Melanie Newcombe is a Southern California artist who works primarily as a sculptor.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Melanie is an emerging artist whose artworks have been selected for juried exhibitions from 1998 to the present.  Melanie recently had a solo exhibition entitled “Look Up” at the Art and Shelter Gallery in Los Angeles, Spring of 2011.  For this exhibition, Melanie introduced new mixed media sculptures in which cast resin and ceramic paper airplanes were juxtaposed with twisted metal, wood, pipes, and iconic portraiture created from window screening.  Presently, Melanie is creating sculptures which continue to explore themes from this body of work. Please visit WORK section to see images.  All artwork, images, and text on this website are copywrighted by Melanie Newcombe.
